Basic Dance Class Information
Pictured left are student of the level 7 ballet class with teacher Christine Carlisle.
Studio Space
We are proud to have one of the largest dance studio spaces in the Willamette Valley! We have 6,000 square feet, which includes 3 classrooms (over 1,500 sq. ft each), a private lesson room, a huge lobby with free WiFi, a reception desk, boutique area, as well as 3 separate mens and womens restrooms (that include showers!) and 2 additional dressing rooms. We even have storage onsite for all of our costumes and props, as well as free parking, and a safe front-door drop off/pick up area. Above are pictures of Studio A which has a floating hardwood "sprung" floor, which is the safest and best for dancing!
Syllabus
The Academy is a member of two prestigious internationaly studied and proven programs. We are a member of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD; internationally recognized graded syllabus) and follow their standards.( http://www.radusa.org/ ) There is a set class syllabus based on the physical, emotional and mental capabilities for each age group.
We are also a member of and afficiated with the American Academy of Ballet ( http://www.american-academy-of-ballet.com/performance_awards/pa06_directors_message.shtml ) and enters its students into the Performance Awards Program, which is implented into our daily class syllabuses along with the R.A.D. classwork. Each spring students present a portion of their classwork to an audience of their friends and families, with a judge sent by the AAB. They are graded, awarded medals and certificates based on their achievements. ALL students who participate receive a medal and certificate! Its a great incentive and goal for students to work towards and gives them a great sense of accomplishment and confidence. Both students and parents LOVE the program... as do our instructors!
Class Sizes
We keep our dance classes small so that each student receives the quality instruction and the individual attention they deserve (as well as their own personal space!). We have a class cap-off of 8 small children per class, 10 young children/adolecents, and 15 adult students per class. Because we keep our class sizes small, if you want to enroll in a class it is better to do it sooner rather than later to ensure that you reserve your place in the class!
Class Prices
Prices are listed with each class description below. Small child classes (Creative Movement, Kindermusik and Creative Theatre) as well as all adult classes are paid by pre-paid punch cards. This allows you to miss classes occassionally if needed and not lose your monthly tuition! However, regular attendance is recommended for achieving ultimate potential and to avoid class cancelations.
All other classes are a monthly tuition which is due at the first class of the month.
All NEW students are required to pay a one-time registration fee of $15.
Class Placement
Most classes are separated by age group in their early years (levels 1-5) and then later on by age AND ability. Your child may be required to take a placement class to be placed correctly-- which may or may not be with thier age group. Or if the student is on the "cusp" we may suggest taking a few private lessons or a level above their class once a week to be caught up so that they can be officially moved into their age group. Additionally it is always at the instructor and/or directors discresion for students to move up to the next level. Keep in mind that some students or classes may stay in the same level for more than one year due to this. When the instructor feels they are ready to move up, they will graduate the student to the next level. We give quarterly student evaluations so that parents are updated on the students progress. Parents are welcome to watch the last class of every month as well to observe their growth.
