Quick Up-Dates
Summer term ends August 27th. Fall Term begins Sept. 20th
REGISTRATION FOR FALL CLASSES!
"First Friday", September 3rd was the official "Registration Night" at AAPAC, which has now since passed. BUT, it's not too late to register!
You can also register online (see registration and payments page), but be sure to call or email us first to make sure there is room in the classes you want before making payments. As of 9/4 Intro to Theatre has 3 spots left. Some other classes are nearly full as well.
If you need new dance attire, or your new uniform leotard, call or email Marta to make an appointment for a fitting. 503-998-9947 cell or martadancn@msn.com
Are you a returning student? Although we would LIKE to assume you are coming back and give you first dibs, we just can't be sure until we hear from you. So you need to call or email us to let us know that you are planning on coming back and to which classes.
Returning students don't need to pay a registration fee, but if you are a drama student, you DO need to pay for your script fee by the deadline of Sept. 13th. This way we can choose a script based on total enrollment and have all scripts ordered and here by the first class.
DAY CARE! New!
AAPAC is now offering a day care service during all weekday morning and early afternoon fitness classes! Our day care is run by an experienced and certified day care provider (and our music instructor, Michelle Kurns) who also has experience raising 6 children of her own!
To take advantage of the day care program, you can pay either a drop in rate of $3 per child for the hour, or purchase a pre-paid punch card of $10 for 5 visits to our day care. Day care is onsite in the other studio adjacent to your fitness room. So now YOU can come and get a great FUN work out, while your child is in the next room having their own fun! Convenient!!!
ZUMBA!
Zumba is taking the world by storm! Due to the huge demand in classes, we're adding 2 more instructors and adding 6 more weekly classes by November to the schedule, to offer a total of 12 fitness classes a week! WOW!
Current class times are Wednesdays 7-8 pm and Saturdays 9-10 am. Wednesdays class is now full but the Saturday morning class still has 4 openings.
Approximately 9 more Zumba class are coming in November.
Zumba is included in our new "Fitness Membership" program! Membership includes "all access" to fitness classes which include: Zumba, Conditioning (Pilates based), Shimmy Shape-Up (belly dancing fitness) and Yoga, all for only $45 a month!
Zumba is taught by licensed Zumba Instructors Enez Bradford, Emily Eikleberry, Brenda Zajdel and Darby Carkeek. Zumba is a Dance Aerobics class that incorporates many ethnic styles of dance to fun, hypnotic and rhythmic music! Zumba has been spreading like wildfire all over the world!
It's Here! Our New Dance Floor and MORE!
We are so excited about some up-grades we've done at AAPAC this week! Our new beautiful "marley" (vinyl), reversible dance floor is here and being installed as we speak! It's smooth, safe and oh-so-lovely!! The Gray side is for the classroom and the black side is for performing in the theatre!
Also, we just removed our old wall ballet barres and made new galvanized pipe, double level, portable ballet barres. They are super sturdy and can handle a LOT of leg weight. Not to mention a lower barre available for our little ones beginning barre work, AND they are portable so we can move them wherever we want, or have students on both sides!
The lobby got a fresh coat of paint and we are in the process of installing a retail wall racking system for our boutique items for easier display and shopping and, best of all, more space in the lobby! We hope to get the carpet in the lobby replaced with tile or linolium before the term begins, so we'll see....
Studio B is getting a sound system (monitors, mixer, etc) to match the one in studio A. So now everyone can have a great musical experience at AAPAC!
Workshops!
We have all of our Thriller workshops scheduled in preparation for our 3rd annual Thriller in the Streets Halloween event. Take a workshop to learn the dance and be in it! See our workshops page for more info. $15 per person and is a fundraiser for a new dance floor which is sorely needed at AAPAC.
FUNdraising!
We are fundraising for a new dance floor this summer. All of our Thriller In The Streets Workshop profits will go towards the floor. Also, we are in the midst of planning an event at Seven Brides Bewery Tap Room in Silverton. The band Intervision from Portland is coming down to play for the cause (donating their time free!) and Seven Brides is donating a portion of beer sales to AAPAC towards our floor payments. We'll keep you posted on the dates and details. Be prepared to come shake your booty this fall for a good cause!
WELCOME ABOARD!
Please welcome new staff members Michelle Kurns, Brenda Zajdel and Darby Carkeek! Michelle Kurns is our new choir and Creative Music instructor. Brenda and Darby are new Zumba instructors (beginning in October). Darby will also be teaching Conditioning and Shimmy Shape-up. Welcome to the family, ladies!
CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to AAPAC alumni students Gavin Knox and Jasmine Kim who both qualified for National competition for Speach! They will be going to Kansas City this summer to compete. We are so proud of them! They are now the 3rd AAPAC students in 2 years to qualify for Nationals in speach. Yay!!!
Did you know that some of our students are already paid actors (professional)? Yep. Casey Magis-Agosta and Haley Karlson both got summer jobs acting at Enchanted Forest. Not bad for 17 year olds! Also, Serena Dufour is going to be in a Papa Murphy's Pizza commercial this year too! Way to go!
